A comprehensive electrical infrastructure project delivering essential switchboard upgrades and temporary power solutions to support increased patient capacity at Fremantle Hospital’s L-Block Catering Department.
Project Challenge
The Problem:
Fremantle Hospital’s existing plating conveyor in the L-Block Catering Department was undersized to meet increased patient and bed capacity demands. A new conveyor system procured from Germany required significant electrical infrastructure upgrades and compliance modifications before installation could proceed.
Critical Requirement:
The catering department needed to maintain continuous 24-hour operation throughout the entire upgrade process. Any distruption to meal service would directly impact patient care across the hospital, making uninterrupted power suppled absolutely essential.

Comprehensive Scope of Works
1. Switchboard Installation
Design, supply and installation of new essential and non-essential switchboards to support the upgraded plating conveyor system.
2. Temporary Power Solution
Installation and management of two generators with stand-by diesel tank, ensuring continuous operation during the two-week changeover period.
3. 24-Hour Monitoring
Continuous monitoring, refuelling, and troubleshooting of temporary supply to maintain uninterrupted catering operations.
NJP Electrical Services coordinated closely with hospital stakeholders to ensure all cabling and temporary infrastructure were installed safely, with out-of-hours installation works minimising disruption to daily operations. Site visits to the equipment importer enabled modifications ensuring full compliance with Australian electrical standards.
Project Execution Excellence
1. Stakeholder Coordination
Liaison with key hospital departments to plan safe installation without disrupting catering operations.
2. Compliance Modifications
Site visits to equipment importer to ensure conveyor met Australian electrical standards.
3. Temporary Power Deployment
Installation of generators and diesel tank with continuous monitoring and management.
4. Switchboard Changeover
Out-of-hours installation of new essential and non-essential switchboards.
5. System Commissioning
Final commissioning and energisation of upgraded switchboard and plating conveyor.
