South Metropolitan Health Service engaged NJP Electrical Services to deliver a critical infrastructure upgrade at Fremantle Hospital’s Radiology Department. The project enabled the installtion of a new CT machine alongside existing equipment, requiring substantial electrical capacity enhancement.
The Challenge:
Fremantle Hospital’s existing electrical infrastructure lacked capacity to support an additional CT machine in the Radiology Department. A new non-essential switchboard was required to power multiple critical areas.
Project Timeline:
2023-2024
Project Value:
$350,000 (ex GST)
Areas Served:
- Radiology Department
- Operating Threates
- Clinical Services Sterlisation Department (CSSD)
- Multiple ward and clinical areas
The project required careful coordination to ensure uninterrupted service delivery across all critical hospital functions whilst upgrading essential infrastructure.

Comprehensive Scope of Works
1. Switchboard Design & Installation
Design and installation of new non-essential switchboard with modifications to meet updated electrical load and space constraints.
2. Sub-Mains Installation
Installation of interconnection sub-mains between the SRS board and CT Power Distribution Unit (PDU).
3. CT Room Integration
Associated CT room works including ‘Do Not Enter’ warning lights integrated with CT operational controls.
4. Testing & Commussioning
Comprehensive testing, commissioning, and energisation of all systems within required operational timelines.
